Our mission is to identify and preserve Coochiemudlo's cultural and environmental heritage. We collect local records and artifacts, and run informative workshops and seminars, that help build a knowledgeable, engaged community.
It's an annual island tradition to commemorate the landing on our eastern beach, in 1799, by explorer Lieutenant Matthew Flinders. We organises an annual re-enactment of this event.
We're greatly encouraged by, and actively promote, the growing recognition that local indigenous Australians have been frequenting our island for many thousands of years.
