Our mission is to identify and preserve Coochiemudlo's cultural and environmental heritage. We collect local records and artifacts, and run informative workshops and seminars, that help build a knowledgeable, engaged community.
It's an annual island tradition to commemorate the landing on our eastern beach, in 1799, by explorer Lieutenant Matthew Flinders. We organise the colourful re-enactment of this event.
We're greatly encouraged by, and actively promote, the growing recognition that local indigenous Australians have been frequenting our island for many thousands of years.
If you'd like to support the preservation and understanding of Coochiemudlo's social history and natural environment we'd be delighted if you would join us on our ongoing journey.
